GREEN MONTH: Landspeaking with Charlotte Du Cann - OFF SITE WORKSHOP at Fen Meadow

  • New Street Market 70 New Street Woodbridge, England, IP12 1DX United Kingdom (map)

Join writer Charlotte Du Cann in a workshop looking at how to strengthen the kinship between people and places and foster a culture that can both weather the storm of current crises and engage with the more-than-human world. We will work alongside the local territory of Fen Meadow, as we approach the first of May and the greening of the year.

This two-hour workshop will be an opportunity to engage, individually and as a group, with a wild place at a turning point in spring. We will be learning how to tune into and physically and imaginatively connect with the land and its inhabitants – plants, birds, winds, stones – sharing our encounters and turning those insights into a creative practice, using images and words.

Attendees will meet at New Street Market before walking as a group to Fen Meadow for the workshop. Please bring a notebook and outdoor wear.

Charlotte Du Cann is a writer, editor and co-director of the Dark Mountain Project. She also teaches creative non-fiction and ancestral kinship with the more-than-human world. Her most recent book is a collection of essays on myth and memoir, After Ithaca – Journeys in Deep Time. You can find her on Substack at The Red Tent.

'Landspeaking' is one of a set of practices developed over a decade that explore the territory of dreams, myths, places and plants. It has been shared with people in many locations: up a mountain in California, around a loch on Rannoch Moor, in an East London park, in the depths of a winter forest in Sweden.

Some Dark Mountain editions and copies of Charlotte’s own book will be available to look at and buy.
