A Transcendent Friday Night: Pillarcat, Silent Dinners and Joe Lees

  • New Street Market 70 New Street Woodbridge, England, IP12 1DX United Kingdom (map)

Presented by Savage Acoustic, the label and producer profile of Woodbridge based musician Stephen Hodd, this Good Friday evening invites you into a healing space of sound, light, and presence. Three soulful acts come together for a night of reflection and gentle musical journeying, surrounded by candlelight and the subtle scent of incense, uplifting spirit and community in the warm embrace of New Street Market.

Stephen Hodd returns in his most free-flowing form, Pillarcat, for the first time in over 15 years. Blending experimental live looping with indie folk and singer-songwriter sensibilities, his performance weaves acoustic roots with delicate ambient textures, creating a transcendent soundscape that flows with the room’s intimate, healing vibe. Expect a journey through soft falsettos, smoky warmth, and subtle sonic explorations—music that invites deep listening and connection.

Silent Dinners, a collaboration between filmmaker Mark Sergeant and digital arts explorer Jan Pulsford, founder of the Woodbridge Ambient Music Festival, offers slow, immersive video and sound installations. Mark’s guitar soundscapes and words, born from walks across the Lothingland landscape, merge with Jan’s compositions and live generative streaming to create a meditative, place-inspired experience that soothes and inspires. Inspired by a story from W.G. Sebald’s Rings of Saturn and their Suffolk wanderings, they blend slow media under the name Silent Dinners.

Scottish alternative folk singer-songwriter Joe Lees, now based in Suffolk, brings his gravelly, soul-stirring voice and honest storytelling to the evening. His music carries heartfelt narratives that resonate with life’s complexities, adding depth and warmth to the night’s tapestry.

A percentage of ticket sales and donations collected at the venue will support Zest, Ipswich’s young adult care service at St Elizabeth Hospice, nurturing compassion and dignity for those facing life’s toughest journeys. Learn more about Zest here.Come gather with open hearts and attentive ears—no masks, no distractions—just the quiet power of music and community to heal, uplift, and hold space as the light begins to return. 🌿 ✨
