Krautrock or "Kosmische Musik" ("cosmic music"), was an effort to forge a new, liberated German cultural identity, moving away from traditional Anglo-American rock structures. Influential bands like Can, Kraftwerk, and Neu! showcased its diversity, from repetitive beats to ambient soundscapes, making it a major influence on electronic music, post-punk, ambient music, House and Techno.
